Sometimes when you cover wild games like the six-overtime epic between Syracuse and Connecticut that ended Friday morning at Madison Square Garden, you remember the little stuff that happens off the court more than any shot on it. Here are a few little behind-the-scene moments that made this game special.
*The Syracuse play-by-play announcer, Matt Park, said he considered himself “punch drunk” by the fifth overtime. (Try talking for nearly four hours straight. It can’t be easy.) He compared the situation to a minor-league baseball game he once called that went into the 18th inning scoreless.
“I thought it was solid, but it got sloppy in the fifth or sixth overtime,” Park said. “You lose your energy. We didn’t take a break after the third.”
*The Syracuse trainer Brad Pike had a difficult task to keep his players hydrated. He mixed the players’ Gatorade with an electrolyte additive called Gatorlytes and gave them something called Enlyten, which look like those minty breath strips. Players pressed them in their checks to help them hydrate.

Our Background
We're Todd and Leah Severson, and we've created this blog to let people know about our journey with the Enlyten company.
A friend of our family emailed us a couple of times. He lives in Oklahoma, and is involved in a new multi-level marketing company called Enlyten. We dismissed the first few emails, but then curiosity got the best of us, and we decided to investigate.
For my husband and I, the term multi-level marketing has never had a positive impact. It conjures up images of pyramid schemes and neighbors running for cover when they see us coming for fear that we're going to try to sell them something.
However, the more we read about Enlyten, the more intrigued we were. The products seem to be worthwhile and useful. So we decided to listen to a webinar about the product and the business model. The speaker went through the program step by step. It wasn't flashy and mega-hypy. She didn't promise quick riches. Just the facts about the product, and the compensation plan. We decided do pursue the opportunity.
A little background on us. We've owned a portrait studio for about 7 years now, and we know that anything worth building is going to take time, dedication and hard work. We also own a another business called Inspired Verses. You can check out that website if you would like to know more.
So having been working for ourselves for the past several years, we know the type of commitment required. But we also know the value of not having to work a "real" job. We have control over our lives and our schedule so we can be the kind of parents we want to be, and have the the flexibility that allows us to make time for our priorities, and not those of a boss or employer.

What are Enlyten strips?
Enlyten strips are similar to Listerine breath strips. You place a strip in your mouth, between your cheek and gum, where it dissolves. The nutrients are absorbed directly into your bloodstream without having to go through the gastro-intestinal system. People are asking us why we are pursuing this business. Here are the reason we chose to sell this product:
1. Enlyten has applied for the patent on the product. That means there won't be any other companies springing up trying to sell the same things. That means people can't go to the store and buy it.
2. The opportunity to get in on the ground floor is now. I hate that term "ground floor." It sounds so, well, multi-level-marketing-ish. But it's an accurate description of the situation right now, as the company just released its multi-level-marketing program at the end of January, 2009. I searched "enlyten indiana" on multiple websites, search engines, etc. and I can't find another distributor in the state. I'm pretty sure that's a good thing.
I have bought and enjoyed products from Arbonne, Mary Kay, Beauticontrol, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, Monavie, and probably others I can't even remember. And it seems like there are people making money with these things. But it also seems that by the time I learn of one of these opportunities, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a dozen other people who're trying to sell the same thing. This is the first time I've been so close to the beginning of an opportunity like this.
3. The product is inexpensive. Three enlyten energy strips costs less than a can of Red Bull or Monster, or other energy strips. Three enlyten electrolyte strips costs about the same as a bottle of Gatorade.
